One of my favorite things, when I get the chance, is to chase the sun. When the sun rises and sets its the most magical time. Freezing this moment of time is a little difficult. If you have tried this, the sun might be blown out or the focused object is under exposed or both. Kind of like below:
For me, I use 5 bracket on my dslr. Selecting the ones I want to use. Such as above, I would use one for the background, one or more of the car and last for places I want more detail.
In photoshop, after aligning the photos I would mask out places where i want to keep. Heres a quick video on how to create masks on photoshop.
Using the first two images I would get something like this.
Part of the sky is still blown out. Hmm what about adding the other image?
That looks much better. Doesn’t it? Lastly I brushed out the reflections with the brush (b) tool.
Hdr on lightroom also does a good job, but I prefer having the control on photos with sunset and sunrises. I can have as much dynamic range as I please 🙂
